About me and GreyShot

Greyshot on Instagram     Urbex: @greyshot1           Street: @greyshot.p

I'm a self-made, down to earth artist. Not trying to make statements, to represent ideals nor expose whatever kind of abuses. Nevertheless, I prefer to please you, as a spectator. Amaze you, make you smile or wonder...

I bought my first (SLR) camera when I was 14. Since then, many cameras and ten thousands of pictures later I am at the point where I can call myself a photographer/artist. This process accelerated the past five years and resulted in a more serious  approach of photography.  That's when GreyShot was born. Apart from a sidestep every now and then (projects), I now mainly work in 2 areas: Urbex and street photography. A great combination for me.

Street photography offers me the opportunity to capture emotions, express oddities. Capture an active story in a photo. And often I try to show the comical, humorous side of things. Although sometimes street photography can be very emotional too. That makes it such an interesting subject. I like the intensity of constantly looking for the 'abnormalities' when out with the camera.

And somehow, these photos don't need color.

Urbex photography is the old love. For me, this genre is more than just photography ... The 'ex' in urbex stands for 'exploring' . And this is not without a reason.

It is exciting to enter an old abandoned building where sometimes no one has set foot for years.

Where objects tell their own story. Where time almost stands still. Only slowly pushed by nature that demands its property back.

It is in this setting that I am looking for that special light, for the beauty and the mystery that has been created by decay. That makes urbex photography so special.
